THE ACTORS MASTERCLASS
The discovery and upliftment of homegrown artistic talent across the MENASA region is an ambition that is very close to the heart of FlipNarrative. It’s to this aim that we are proud to offer an educational initiative focused on the development of acting talent. The Actors Masterclass will be hosted by FlipNarrative’s founder, Waleed Zuaiter. Waleed is a BAFTA-nominated actor and Academy Award-nominated producer, with an impressive international profile and a career spanning across theatre, film and television over the last three decades.

Zuaiter headlined the all-star cast in Fremantle/Euston Films’ & Channel 4 UK’s Baghdad Central, which premiered to rave reviews in the UK, the MENA region and in the US. Waleed produced and starred in OMAR, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2014 Academy Awards and won the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival (2013), the Grand Prize - Best Feature at the Dubai International Film Festival (2013), Best Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (2013). Waleed also starred in the award-winning series Gangs of London and Netflix’s Altered Carbon.
Arab Film Studio Acting Workshop in conjunction with ImageNation Abu Dhabi
The Actors Masterclass is an intensive workshop for budding actors from the age of 18 upwards, looking to refine their craft. Participants will gain invaluable knowledge and insights on the regional and global industry from Waleed Zuaiter’s vast experience. The added value of this program is not only to educate but also to give our most promising participants a foot in the door to audition for relevant roles currently casting in the region or abroad.
We have developed two Masterclass packages to choose from. Either program is guaranteed to be extremely rewarding for all involved during and after the workshop, but we have provided these packages to accommodate for time and budget allocations. The ideal Masterclass will have a maximum of 12 participants to ensure that everyone receives intensive focus.

NLP is essentially the study of human behavior. It’s not a conventional aspect of acting training but the tools and exercises taught may be instrumental to an an artist and storyteller.

Participants will learn how to effectively break down a script and understand the character to be portrayed. Actors need to learn how to develop a character through action choices and objectives drawn from the text.

The participants will be exposed to a range of character and scenes in partnered assignments.

We will conduct daily rehearsals with the class.

The Q&A sessions are vital to ensure that the participants have grasped the techniques taught during the day and have understood how to apply it in their career.

A workshop with award-winning Creative Director, Brand Consultant and FlipNarrative’s Head of Development, Shaun-Dean Thomas, that will delve into current topics of image-building, brand collaborations, marketability and social exposure.

Participants will gain more knowledge on audition techniques, how to secure the audition opportunity and what directors, producers or casting directors are looking for in an audition.

Through our international network of talent and casting directors, our aim would be to have the students tape for actual jobs.
